Scale Overview
The Organizational Police Stress Questionnaire – PSQ-Org was developed by Donald R. McCreary & Megan M. Thompson (2006). It is designed to measure Organizational Police Stress. The scale is intended for use with Police officers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Stress: 1 – 2
- Moderate Stress: 2 – 4
- High Stress: 5 – 7
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha >= .90.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
