Scale Overview
The Organizational Police Stress Questionnaire – PSQ-Org was developed by Donald R. McCreary & Megan M. Thompson (2006). It is designed to measure Organizational Police Stress. The scale is intended for use with Police officers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = No Stress At All, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = Moderate Stress, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = A Lot Of Stress.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 20 to 140. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Organizational Stress: 20 – 59
- Moderate Organizational Stress: 60 – 99
- High Organizational Stress: 100 – 140
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha typically > 0.90.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
