Scale Overview
The Organizational Commitment Questionnaire – German Version (OCQ-G) was developed by Günter W. Maier & Ralph Woschée (2002). It is designed to measure Organizational Commitment. The scale is intended for use with Employees / Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 6 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Very Low Commitment (Stanine 1): 1 – 1
- Low Commitment (Stanine 2-3): 1 – 2
- Average Commitment (Stanine 4-6): 2 – 3
- High Commitment (Stanine 7-8): 3 – 4
- Very High Commitment (Stanine 9): 4 – 5
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = .85 to .90.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
