Scale Overview
The Organizational Commitment Questionnaire – German Version (OCQ-G) was developed by G. W. Maier & R. Woschée (2002). It is designed to measure Organizational Commitment. The scale is intended for use with Employees / Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Neither agree nor disagree, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly agree.
The scale includes 6 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 15 to 75. Interpretation guidelines:
- Very Low Commitment: 15 – 33
- Low Commitment: 34 – 44
- Moderate Commitment: 45 – 49
- High Commitment: 50 – 59
- Very High Commitment: 60 – 75
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = .90 (long version), .85 (short version).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
