Scale Overview
The National School Board Survey (NSBS) was developed by L. Bishop, R. Manley (2003). It is designed to measure School board governance and effectiveness. The scale is intended for use with School board members.

This instrument consists of 73 items organized into 10 factors/subscales: Teamwork, Financial Planning, Policy Orientation, Academic Assessment, Financial Management, Curriculum Evaluation, Technology Investment, Curriculum Investment, Financial Analysis, Board Effectiveness.

Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Slightly Agree, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha coefficients range from 0.65 to 0.97 across subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
