Scale Overview
The Münster Questionnaire for the Evaluation of Seminars – Revised (MFE-Sr) was developed by Grabbe, Haaser, Hirschfeld, & Thielsch (2009). It is designed to measure Course Evaluation. The scale is intended for use with University students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Instructor & Didactics, Overburdening, Participants, Materials.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Somewhat disagree, 4 = Neutral, 5 = Somewhat agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 15 to 105. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low overall course satisfaction / High workload issues: 15 – 45
- Moderate overall course satisfaction: 46 – 75
- High overall course satisfaction / Low workload issues: 76 – 105
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's Alpha = .77 to .89.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
