Scale Overview
The Multidimensional Media Influence Scale – MMIS was developed by Cusumano, D. L., & Thompson, J. K. (2000). It is designed to measure Media influence on body image. The scale is intended for use with Children and adolescents (ages 8-11).

This instrument consists of 12 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Internalization, Comparison.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Completely Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Neither Agree Nor Disagree, 4 = Agree, 5 = Completely Agree.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 12 to 60. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Media Influence: 12 – 27
- Moderate Media Influence: 28 – 44
- High Media Influence: 45 – 60

Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
