Scale Overview
The Michigan Organizational Assessment Questionnaire – Overall Job Satisfaction Subscale (OAQ-GJS) was developed by Cammann, C., Fichman, M., Jenkins, D., & Klesh, J. (1983). It is designed to measure Job Satisfaction. The scale is intended for use with Employees / working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 3 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Slightly disagree, 4 = Neither agree nor disagree, 5 = Slightly agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly agree.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Job Satisfaction: 1 – 3
- Neutral: 4 – 4
- High Job Satisfaction: 5 – 7
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.67 – 0.95.
