The Maranell’s Religious Attitudes Scales (RAS) was developed by Gary M. Maranell (1974). It is designed to measure Religiosity and Religious Attitudes. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = strongly disagree, 1 = somewhat disagree, 2 = undecided, 3 = somewhat agree, 4 = strongly agree.
The scale includes 20 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 48. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Subscale Score: 0 – 16
- Moderate Subscale Score: 17 – 32
- High Subscale Score: 33 – 48

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Mean test-retest reliability of .87.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
