Scale Overview
The Life Events Checklist – LEC was developed by J. H. Johnson & R. McCutcheon (1980). It is designed to measure Life Stress. The scale is intended for use with Older children and adolescents (ages 12 and up).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 28 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = No effect / Did not occur, 1 = Some effect, 2 = Moderate effect, 3 = Great effect.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
