Scale Overview
The Level of Anger Scale (LAS) was developed by Raymond DiGiuseppe, Jaquaye Russell (2013). It is designed to measure Anger Intensity. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 13 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Mildly Disagree, 3 = Agree and Disagree equally, 4 = Mildly Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 13 to 65. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Anger: 13 – 26
- Moderate Anger: 27 – 39
- High Anger: 40 – 52
- Very High Anger: 53 – 65
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
