Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Lowest rating (e.g., Never / Not at all / Low / Very ineffective), 2 = Low-mid rating (e.g., Rarely / A little / Rather low / Worse than average), 3 = Average rating (e.g., Occasionally / Moderately / Medium / Average), 4 = High-mid rating (e.g., Often / Well / Rather high / Better than average), 5 = Highest rating (e.g., Always / Very well / High / Very effective).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 7 to 35. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low LMX (Poor relationship quality): 7 – 19
- Moderate LMX (Average relationship quality): 20 – 29
- High LMX (High relationship quality): 30 – 35

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.92.
