Scale Overview
The Inventory for Creating Parent-Teacher Connections (ICPTC) was developed by Sandy Christenson (2001). It is designed to measure Parent-Teacher Partnerships. The scale is intended for use with Teachers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 32 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Approach, Attitudes, Atmosphere, Actions.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all/never, 2 = In some situations/infrequently, 3 = Variable/sometimes but not usually, 4 = In most situations/usually, 5 = Completely/always.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 32 to 160. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Partnership Development: 32 – 74
- Moderate Partnership Development: 75 – 120
- High Partnership Development: 121 – 160
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
