Scale Overview
The Institutional Ethical Practices and Faculty Professional Self-Esteem Survey was developed by L. F. O’Hara (1991). It is designed to measure Faculty Professional Self-Esteem and Institutional Ethical Practices. The scale is intended for use with Higher education faculty.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 9 items organized into 9 factors/subscales: Administrative Commitment, Faculty Input, Information Sharing, Honesty, Budget, Classroom Control, Support Services, Professional Development, Goal Setting.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Does not describe, 1 = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = 7, 8 = 8, 9 = 9, 10 = Describes.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 90. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perception of institutional support and ethical practices: 0 – 30
- Moderate perception of institutional support and ethical practices: 31 – 60
- High perception of institutional support and ethical practices: 61 – 90
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
