The Importance of Job Characteristics Scale – ALLBUS was developed by GESIS (ALLBUS) (1982). It is designed to measure Job characteristics importance / Work orientation. The scale is intended for use with General adult population.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 13 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Intrinsic Job Orientation, Extrinsic Job Orientation, Social Job Orientation.

Total scores range from 13 to 91. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low overall importance placed on job characteristics: 13 – 39
- Moderate overall importance placed on job characteristics: 40 – 65
- High overall importance placed on job characteristics: 66 – 91
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = 0.85.
