The Ideal Body Stereotype Scale-Revised – IBIS-R was developed by Eric Stice (2001). It is designed to measure Thin-ideal internalization. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 6 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low internalization: 1 – 2
- Moderate internalization: 2 – 3
- High internalization: 3 – 5

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha typically ranges from .70 to .91.
Administration
