Scale Development & Technical Details
Scale Overview
The Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test (JTT) was developed by Humanmetrics (1998). It is designed to measure Jungian Personality Types. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 64 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Extraversion vs. Introversion, Sensing vs. Intuition, Thinking vs. Feeling, Judging vs. Perceiving.
| Factor / Subscale | Items | N |
|---|---|---|
| Extraversion vs. Introversion | 2,3,5,9,17,20,23,27,31,32,36,37,41,46,49,56,61 | 17 |
| Sensing vs. Intuition | 7,11,13,14,22,25,28,33,38,42,48,50,51,52,57,59,60,64 | 18 |
| Thinking vs. Feeling | 4,6,10,15,19,26,29,30,35,39,43,53,54,58,63 | 15 |
| Judging vs. Perceiving | 1,8,12,16,18,21,24,34,40,44,45,47,55,62 | 14 |
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 5 = YES, 4 = yes, 3 = uncertain, 2 = no, 1 = NO.
The scale includes 34 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 100. Interpretation guidelines:
- Preference strength varies from slight to distinct: 0 – 100
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High test-retest reliability.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
