Scale Overview
The How I Feel – HIF was developed by Tedra A. Walden, Victor S. Harris, Thomas F. Catron (2003). It is designed to measure Emotional arousal and regulation. The scale is intended for use with Children.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 30 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Negative Emotion, Positive Emotion, Emotion Control.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = not at all true of me, 2 = a little true of me, 3 = somewhat true of me, 4 = pretty true of me, 5 = very true of me.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
