Scale Overview
The Healthy Families Parenting Inventory – HFPI was developed by Craig Winston LeCroy, Judy Krysik (2012). It is designed to measure Parenting outcomes, family functioning, and parental well-being. The scale is intended for use with Parents participating in home visitation or family support programs.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 63 items organized into 9 factors/subscales: Social Support, Problem Solving, Depression, Personal Care, Mobilizing Resources, Role Satisfaction, Parent/Child Interaction, Home Environment, Parenting Efficacy.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Rarely or Never, 2 = A little of the time, 3 = Some of the time, 4 = Good part of the time, 5 = Always or most of the time.
The scale includes 15 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 63 to 315. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low parenting functioning and support: 63 – 147
- Moderate parenting functioning and support: 148 – 231
- High parenting functioning and support: 232 – 315

Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
