Scale Overview
The Health Practices Questionnaire-II (HPQ-II) was developed by Lindgren, K. (2003). It is designed to measure Pregnancy health practices. The scale is intended for use with Pregnant women.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 34 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: General Health and Wellness, Substance Use and Risk Avoidance, Nutrition, Prenatal Care and Education.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = Almost never, 3 = Sometimes, 4 = Almost always / Almost daily, 5 = Always / Daily.
The scale includes 11 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
