Scale Overview
The Guilford–Zimmerman Temperament Survey – GZTS (Selected Items) was developed by J. P. Guilford and Wayne S. Zimmerman (1948). It is designed to measure Normal personality and temperament traits. The scale is intended for use with Adults, adolescents, and college students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 141 items organized into 8 factors/subscales: General Activity, Restraint, Ascendance, Sociability, Emotional Stability, Thoughtfulness, Friendliness, Personal Relations.

Response anchors: Yes = Yes, ? = Uncertain, No = No.
The scale includes 70 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 141. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low: 0 – 47
- Average: 48 – 94
- High: 95 – 141

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency and test-retest reliability reported in literature.
Administration
