Scale Overview
The Godin Leisure-Time Exercise Questionnaire – LTEQ was developed by Gaston Godin, Roy J. Shephard (1985). It is designed to measure Leisure-time physical activity. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 3 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: open_integer = Times per week.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 150. Interpretation guidelines:
- Insufficiently Active (Less than 14 units): 0 – 13
- Moderately Active (14 to 23 units): 14 – 23
- Active (24 units or more): 24 – 150
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Test-retest reliability ranges from 0.60 to 0.80.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
