Scale Overview
The Gender Role and Relationship Norms Scale – GRRN was developed by Harrison, A., O’Sullivan, L., Hoffman, S., Dolezal, C., & Morrell, R. (2006). It is designed to measure Gender roles, relationship norms, and sexual violence. The scale is intended for use with Young adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 40 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Violence in Sexual Relationships – Women, Violence in Sexual Relationships – Men, Power, Egalitarian Sex Roles, Male Dominant Sex Roles, Meaning in Relationships – Mutuality, Hyper-Romanticism.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 4-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 4 = Strongly Agree).

Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha ranges from 0.58 to 0.84 across subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
