Scale Overview
The Friends’ Delinquent Behavior—Denver Youth Survey (FDB-DYS) was developed by Institute of Behavioral Sciences (1987). It is designed to measure Peer Delinquent Behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and young adults (ages 12-24).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = None of them, 1 = Very few of them, 2 = Some of them, 3 = Most of them, 4 = All of them.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 0 to 4. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low exposure to peer delinquency: 0 – 1
- Mild exposure to peer delinquency: 1 – 2
- Moderate exposure to peer delinquency: 2 – 3
- High exposure to peer delinquency: 3 – 4
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
