Scale Overview
The Female Partner’s Communication During Sexual Activity Scale was developed by Alexandra McIntyre-Smith and William A. Fisher (2008). It is designed to measure Sexual communication ease and frequency. The scale is intended for use with Heterosexually active females.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Very Difficult (Items 1-3), 2 = Moderately Difficult (Items 1-3), 3 = Slightly Difficult (Items 1-3), 4 = Neither Easy nor Difficult (Items 1-3), 5 = Slightly Easy (Items 1-3), 6 = Moderately Easy (Items 1-3), 7 = Very Easy (Items 1-3), 0 = 0% of the time (Items 4-6), 1 = 1–25% of the time (Items 4-6), 2 = 26–50% of the time (Items 4-6), 3 = 51–75% of the time (Items 4-6), 4 = 76–99% of the time (Items 4-6), 5 = 100% of the time (Items 4-6).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Total scale alpha = .83.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
