Scale Overview
The Feedback Instrument for Rescue Force Development – Tabletop Exercises (FIRE-PL) was developed by N. Schulte & M. T. Thielsch (2019). It is designed to measure Perceived quality of tabletop exercises in rescue force training. The scale is intended for use with Rescue forces, firefighters, and emergency management personnel.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 4 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Somewhat disagree, 4 = Neutral, 5 = Somewhat agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perceived quality: 1 – 3
- Neutral perceived quality: 4 – 4
- High perceived quality: 5 – 7
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha >= .81, McDonald's omega >= .82.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 1 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
