Scale Overview
The Fear of Envy Scale – FES was developed by O’Connor, L.E., Berry, J.W., Weiss, J. & Gilbert, P. (2002). It is designed to measure Fear of envy and interpersonal guilt. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Very untrue of me or strongly disagree, 2 = Not true of me or disagree, 3 = Sometimes true, sometimes not true or undecided, 4 = True of me or agree, 5 = Very true of me or strongly agree.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 21 to 105. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low: 21 – 52
- Moderate: 53 – 84
- High: 85 – 105

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
