Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 37 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Involvement with Care, Health Information, Professional Support, Instrumental Support, Emotional Support, Community Support Network.
| Factor / Subscale | Items | N |
|---|---|---|
| Involvement with Care | 1,2,3,8 | 4 |
| Health Information | 4,10,11,12,13,14,16 | 7 |
| Professional Support | 5,6,7,9,15,17,18 | 7 |

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = No, 1 = Partly, 2 = Yes.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 37. Interpretation guidelines:
- Scores are calculated per subscale to determine the percentage of met, partly met, and unmet needs.: 0 – 37
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency (typically alpha > 0.80 for subscales).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
