Scale Overview
The Family Member Well-Being Index – FMWB was developed by Hamilton I. McCubbin, Joan M. Patterson (1982). It is designed to measure Family member well-being. The scale is intended for use with Adults and family members.

This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = 7, 8 = 8, 9 = 9, 10 = 10.
The scale includes 6 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 8 to 80. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Well-Being: 8 – 32
- Moderate Well-Being: 33 – 56
- High Well-Being: 57 – 80

Administration
