Scale Overview
The Faith in People Scale – FPS was developed by Morris Rosenberg (1957). It is designed to measure Faith in People / Misanthropy. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 5 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Trusting response, 0 = Misanthropic response.
The scale includes 2 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low faith in people (High misanthropy): 0 – 1
- Moderate faith in people: 2 – 3
- High faith in people (Low misanthropy): 4 – 5
