Scale Overview
The Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale – ESES was developed by Kirk, B.A., Schutte, N.S., & Hine, D.W. (2008). It is designed to measure Emotional Self-Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 32 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not At All Confident, 2 = A Little Confident, 3 = Moderately Confident, 4 = Quite Confident, 5 = Very Confident.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 32 to 160. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Emotional Self-Efficacy: 32 – 74
- Moderate Emotional Self-Efficacy: 75 – 117
- High Emotional Self-Efficacy: 118 – 160
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
