Scale Overview
The Ego-Undercontrol Scale (EUC) was developed by Tera D. Letzring, Jack Block, David C. Funder (2005). It is designed to measure Ego-undercontrol. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 37 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Disagree very strongly, 2 = Disagree somewhat, 3 = Agree somewhat, 4 = Agree very strongly.
The scale includes 15 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 37 to 148. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Ego-Undercontrol (High Ego-Control): 37 – 74
- Moderate Ego-Undercontrol: 75 – 111
- High Ego-Undercontrol: 112 – 148
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
