Scale Overview
The Digital Flourishing Scale (DFS) was developed by Sophie H. Janicke-Bowles, Tess M. Buckley, Rikishi Rey, Tayah Wozniak, Adrian Meier, Anna Lomanowska (2023). It is designed to measure Digital Flourishing. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 25 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Connectedness, Civil Participation, Positive Social Comparison, Authentic Self-Disclosure, Self-control.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 25 to 175. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Digital Flourishing: 25 – 75
- Moderate Digital Flourishing: 76 – 125
- High Digital Flourishing: 126 – 175
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.73 – 0.91.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
