The Denison Organizational Culture Survey (DOCS) was developed by Daniel R. Denison (1995). It is designed to measure Organizational Culture. The scale is intended for use with Employees and organizational members.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 60 items organized into 12 factors/subscales: Empowerment, Team Orientation, Capability Development, Core Values, Agreement, Coordination and Integration, Creating Change, Customer Focus, Organizational Learning, Strategic Direction & Intent, Goals & Objectives, Vision.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 8 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 60 to 300. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Cultural Alignment: 60 – 140
- Moderate Cultural Alignment: 141 – 220
- High Cultural Alignment: 221 – 300
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency (typically Cronbach's alpha > 0.70 for all subscales).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
