The Deffenbacher Driving Anger Scale – Short Form (DAS-14) was developed by Jerry L. Deffenbacher, Eugene R. Oetting, Richard S. Lynch (1994). It is designed to measure Driving Anger. The scale is intended for use with Drivers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 14 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = none at all, 2 = a little, 3 = some, 4 = much, 5 = very much.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 14 to 70. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low driving anger: 14 – 28
- Moderate driving anger: 29 – 42
- High driving anger: 43 – 56
- Very high driving anger: 57 – 70
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
