Scale Overview
The Dating Violence Myths Scale – DaVi-M was developed by Ezgi Toplu-DemirtaÅŸ, Demet Esra Soysal, AyÅŸegül Aracı-İyiaydın, Cansel Mesut (2023). It is designed to measure Dating Violence Myths. The scale is intended for use with Emerging adults (primarily college students).

This instrument consists of 9 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Myths on victims/survivors, Dating relationships, Sexual violence.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point agreement scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 9 to 45. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low endorsement of dating violence myths: 9 – 22
- High endorsement of dating violence myths: 23 – 45
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha: .68 (overall), .60-.65 (subscales).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
