Scale Overview
The Cyber-Harassment Student Survey – CHSS was developed by Tanya Beran, Qing Li (2005). It is designed to measure Cyber-harassment. The scale is intended for use with Students (adolescents and youth).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 13 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Victimization, Impact of Victimization, Perpetration.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = Once or twice, 2 = A few times, 3 = Many times, 4 = Every day.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 52. Interpretation guidelines:
- No reported involvement: 0 – 0
- Low frequency involvement: 1 – 15
- Moderate to high frequency involvement: 16 – 52
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
