Scale Overview
The Coping with Organizational Change Scale was developed by Timothy A. Judge, Carl J. Thoresen, Vladimir Pucik, Theresa M. Welbourne (1999). It is designed to measure Coping with organizational change. The scale is intended for use with Employees and managers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 12 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 3 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 12 to 60. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Coping Capacity: 12 – 27
- Moderate Coping Capacity: 28 – 44
- High Coping Capacity: 45 – 60
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
