Scale Overview
The Community Integration Questionnaire – CIQ was developed by Willer, B., Rosenthal, M., Kreutzer, S., Gordon, A., Rempel, R. (1993). It is designed to measure Community Integration. The scale is intended for use with Individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or other disabilities.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Home Integration, Social Integration, Productivity.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 2 = Yourself alone / 5 or more times / Yes / Almost every day, 1 = Yourself and someone else / 1-4 times / Almost every week, 0 = Someone else / Never / No / Seldom or never.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 29. Interpretation guidelines:
- Total Integration Score (Higher scores indicate greater integration): 0 – 29
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Reliably discriminates between individuals with TBI and control groups.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
