Scale Overview
The Collective Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale – CTE was developed by Ralf Schwarzer & Gerdamarie S. Schmitz (1999). It is designed to measure Collective Teacher Self-Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with Teachers and school faculty.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 12 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all true, 2 = Barely true, 3 = Moderately true, 4 = Exactly true.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 12 to 48. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Collective Self-Efficacy: 12 – 24
- Moderate Collective Self-Efficacy: 25 – 36
- High Collective Self-Efficacy: 37 – 48
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency (typically Cronbach's alpha between .84 and .91 in validation studies).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
