Scale Overview
The Collective Orientation Scale (CO) was developed by Driskell et al. (Original), Hagemann (German Adaptation) (2010). It is designed to measure Collective Orientation. The scale is intended for use with Working adults and students.

This instrument consists of 16 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Affiliation, Dominance.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Disagree, 2 = Somewhat disagree, 3 = Neither agree nor disagree, 4 = Somewhat agree, 5 = Agree.
The scale includes 13 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 16 to 80. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Collective Orientation: 16 – 37
- Moderate Collective Orientation: 38 – 58
- High Collective Orientation: 59 – 80
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's Alpha >= .74.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
