Scale Overview
The Collective Efficacy Scale – CES was developed by Douglas D. Perkins & D. Adam Long (2002). It is designed to measure Collective Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with Adult neighborhood residents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 6 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not likely, 2 = Somewhat likely, 3 = Very likely.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 6 to 18. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Collective Efficacy: 6 – 10
- Moderate Collective Efficacy: 11 – 14
- High Collective Efficacy: 15 – 18
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
