Scale Overview
The Cloninger Spiritual Quiz was developed by C. Robert Cloninger (2004). It is designed to measure Self-Transcendence. The scale is intended for use with General adult population.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous True/False format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 20. Interpretation guidelines:
- Highly skeptical, resistant to developing spiritual awareness: 0 – 5
- A practical empiricist lacking self-transcendence: 6 – 7
- Spiritually average; could develop more spiritual life if desired: 8 – 11
- Spiritually aware, easily lost in the moment: 12 – 13
- Highly spiritual, a real mystic: 14 – 20
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
