Scale Overview
The Children’s Sociocultural Adjustment Scale (Modified) – CSAS-M was developed by W. Searle & C. Ward (Modified by Uma A. Shenoy) (1990). It is designed to measure Sociocultural adjustment. The scale is intended for use with Children and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 17 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = No difficulty, 2 = Slight difficulty, 3 = Moderate difficulty, 4 = Great difficulty, 5 = Extreme difficulty.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 17 to 85. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low difficulty: 17 – 34
- Slight to moderate difficulty: 35 – 51
- Great difficulty: 52 – 68
- Extreme difficulty: 69 – 85
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
