Scale Overview
The Children and Adolescent Social and Adaptive Function Scale – CASAFS was developed by Price, C.S., Spence, S.H., Sheffield, J., & Donovan, C. (2002). It is designed to measure Social and adaptive functioning. The scale is intended for use with Children and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 24 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: School Performance, Peer Relationships, Family Relationships, Home Duties.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = Sometimes, 3 = Often, 4 = Always.
The scale includes 4 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 24 to 96. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Social and Adaptive Functioning: 24 – 48
- Moderate Social and Adaptive Functioning: 49 – 72
- High Social and Adaptive Functioning: 73 – 96
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
