Scale Overview
The Beliefs Questionnaire – BQ was developed by P. M. Salkovskis, K. A. Rimes, H. M. C. Warwick, & D. M. Clark (2002). It is designed to measure Health Anxiety Beliefs. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 18 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Thought never occurs, 2 = Thought rarely occurs, 3 = Thought occurs during half of the times when I am nervous or concerned, 4 = Thought usually occurs, 5 = Thought always occurs.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
