Scale Overview
The Bath Adolescent Pain Questionnaire (BAPQ) was developed by Eccleston, C., Jordan, A., McCracken, L. M., Sleed, M., Connell, H., & Clinch, J. (2005). It is designed to measure Impact of chronic pain on adolescent functioning. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (aged 11-18) experiencing chronic pain.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 50 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Social Functioning, Physical Functioning, Depression, Anxiety, Pain-specific Anxiety, Family Functioning.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = never, 1 = hardly ever, 2 = sometimes, 3 = often, 4 = always.
The scale includes 15 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
