The Attitudes Toward Unconventional Sex Scale – ATUSS was developed by Carolyn A. Wenner, V. Michelle Russell, and James K. McNulty (Unknown). It is designed to measure Unconventional sexual preferences. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 5 to 35. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low preference for unconventional sex: 5 – 15
- Moderate preference for unconventional sex: 16 – 25
- High preference for unconventional sex: 26 – 35

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of α = .70 to .86.
