Scale Overview
The Attitudes about Instrumental Driving Aggression Scale was developed by Steven Love, Yolinda Indrawan, & Grégoire S. Larue (2024). It is designed to measure Instrumental Driving Aggression Attitudes. The scale is intended for use with Adult drivers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 6 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Sometimes Agree, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 6 to 30. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low agreement with instrumental driving aggression: 6 – 12
- Moderate agreement with instrumental driving aggression: 13 – 21
- High agreement with instrumental driving aggression: 22 – 30
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = 0.89.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
