Scale Overview
The Attitude Toward the Provision of Long-Term Care – ATPLTC was developed by Waldo C. Klein (1992). It is designed to measure Attitude toward family caregiving. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 26 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly agree, 2 = Moderately agree, 3 = Neither agree nor disagree, 4 = Moderately disagree, 5 = Strongly disagree.
The scale includes 11 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 26 to 130. Interpretation guidelines:
- Negative attitude toward family caregiving: 26 – 60
- Neutral/Moderate attitude toward family caregiving: 61 – 95
- Positive attitude toward family caregiving: 96 – 130

Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
